Zach Fausett

Geospatial Analyst

August 2025

Zach Fausett is a geospatial analyst who works on our quality control team, and we are thankful for his contributions to our team; his strong work ethic and friendly spirit have been a staple part of our team since his joining in 2019.

Zach started his educational journey studying chemical engineering at Brigham Young University (BYU), but he quickly changed his course of study to geography. Zach realized early on that the engineering cohort could quickly become a zero-sum game; on the contrary, geography was a much more collaborative and inviting field, and became an excellent fit.

Though he didn't know anyone in the industry, he let his interests and talents guide him.

Zach is highly interested in the anthropological approach to the geospatial industry. Culture, people, and Earth all go together, and he is curious to learn how different groups of people make their mark on Earth.

He is also constantly learning more about the intelligence side of the industry, including the intricacies of satellites and data collection.

Zach has learned a lot in the past few years and has enjoyed strengthening his skills in data management and quality control.

Forecasting is also a key component in the geospatial industry, and Zach sees the value in analyzing current production trends, forecasting how much more work is needed, and calculating the timing.

Everyone has a favorite part of their job; for Zach, it's the people, and he enjoys finding shared interests and connections with his teammates. He also finds great humor in the fact that many people outside the industry confuse "geographers" with "geologists" (they aren't the same, but geographers generally like rocks, too!)

Zach has found the T-Kartor culture to be very employee-focused. He believes the company understands employees don't live to work and are conscious of their lives outside of the job.

Zach also applauds the leadership team for being honest and open, even during drawdowns; this transparency shows the team's pride in its work. When you hire quality people, you create an environment of quality.

Zach predicts we will continue to see the geospatial industry permeate other industries in the coming decade. Currently, many people are paying attention to how governments and Fortune 500 companies use geospatial data and tools. However, Zach anticipates that other retailers and small businesses will soon gain greater recognition of how their companies can use geospatial data.

If you're a geospatial newcomer, Zach encourages you not to be afraid to ask "Why?". When you can find the reasoning behind your projects, you will better understand your role and have the opportunity to advance further (he also says that having security clearance is helpful!)

Zach is looking forward to spending time at the T-Kartor office soon. He enjoys seeing his colleagues in person and building relationships.

Outside of work, Zach prioritizes spending time with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys reading books, watching classic cinema, fishing, and hunting.
