May 2025

Magnus Carlsson has been a key player at T-Kartor for over thirty years and has played an integral role in helping lead the organization through new challenges and opportunities.
Magnus began working for T-Kartor in 1993 after completing military service and university. Although his official title is Chief Financial Officer, he has taken on many roles and responsibilities at T-Kartor. He handles financials, coordinates IT for the Sweden office, heads real estate duties for the offices when needed, and splits HR tasks with the management team.
Magnus's favorite part of his job is the variety of tasks he has to do on a day-to-day basis (a plus, considering he has worn so many different hats at T-Kartor). He loves tackling the various challenges presented each day and has a passion for continuous learning.
In his decades-long tenure, Magnus has seen T-Kartor's culture grow while also being an essential contributor to it. He describes the culture as welcoming and friendly, and he and the leadership team strive to maintain this.
Over the years, the company has grown in size and professionalism. Magnus also mentions he appreciates the efforts to recruit younger team members and welcome new perspectives.
Having offices on different continents has many advantages, and Magnus asserts that this international approach gives T-Kartor more than one leg to stand on. He has been integral to T-Kartor's success in the U.S. and European markets and is eager to see continued collaboration between these offices.
Since joining the geospatial industry, Magnus has seen information become increasingly available on a yearly basis (having witnessed the evolution of satellites, drones, and other technology). He is currently interested in how AI will affect the industry in the coming years.
Magnus is incredibly optimistic about future scaling opportunities for T-Kartor. He sees the opportunity to shift to a product-focused model, selling solutions like T-Kartor's Iris 2.10 to larger markets in the U.S. He also emphasizes serving existing customers while scaling in other areas.
Wayfinding is another central tenet of T-Kartor's mission, and Magnus anticipates new opportunities for growth and innovative solutions in this area as well.
Magnus recommends that anyone interested in working for T-Kartor be open-minded. He advises newcomers to let the team know about any new ideas, as "changing with new perspectives is how we grow".
Magnus loves to spend time outdoors and participates in sports in his free time. He is an avid cross-country skier and has skied in races all around Europe with his friends. Tennis is another longtime favorite sport for Magnus, and he recently took up golf.
2025 is quite a milestone year for Magnus. Not only is he looking forward to T-Kartor's 40th anniversary this month, but he will also celebrate his 60th birthday this year.
A fan of traveling, he plans to take a trip to Italy this upcoming fall.
