Transport for LondonTransport for London (TfL) is one of the largest public transport providers in the world, with over 8 million journeys per day. For the past eight years T-Kartor has supplied TfL with integrated transport information in the form of a number of cartographic products:
Bus Spider Maps
The Spider Map is a schematic cartographic product generalising all bus routes serving a hub. The schematic diagram is based on the design of the world famous London Underground Map. The popularity of the product has led to the creation of over 900 Spider maps spread across the Greater London Area.
Transport Super-Site Posters
The Super-Site Poster is composed of a local area geographic map centred on transport hubs such as underground, bus and mainline rail stations (around 500 in total). It features local places of interest and connecting modes of transport. T-Kartor developed this map product with Transport for London during 2001 and rolled out the product at all stations within 1 year.
A4 bus stops maps
Cashless buses in Central London have created the need for bus maps for most bus stops to show nearby bus ticket retailers. T-Kartor uses GIS tools and methods to analyse suitable stops and retailers and to create around 13,500 individual stop maps. The annual turnaround time for the complete production of this project is about three months.
